Second 'kiss-in' planned at SLC Temple

Protesters are planning a second "kiss-in" near the Salt Lake City Temple to support two gay men who said they were stopped by LDS Church security after one man kissed the other on the cheek.

The founder of the LDS Church, Joseph Smith, Gave a funeral sermon for Jennette Bates, and Lorenzo Barnes on April 16, 1843. In Willard Richard's report of the sermon he indicates That Joseph identifies the companions of Jennette and Lorenzo as being Marcellus Bates and "the friend of brother Barnes", respectively and that the two living survivors(Marcellus,& the friend of brother Barnes) would soon have the company of departed companions in a world of glory. Wilford Woodruff's recorded account, of this sermon, from his journal, same date, one sees that after Joseph had spoken a little about the resurrection he said ... "To bring it to understanding it would be upon the same principle as though two who were vary friends indeed should lie down upon the same bed at night locked in each other embrace talking of their love & should awake in the morning together they could immediately renew their conversation of love...". The point here is that the term friend is non gender specific. I recommend one reads the complete accounts mentioned above in "The Words of Joseph Smith" By Andrew F. Ehat and Lyndon W. Cook, pub. 1980, or some other source where the contemporaneous accounts are given with fidelity.
